FAQ's of Boiler Servicing

Getting your boiler serviced may seem like a waste of time and money at first, but we assure you it’s not! Here we've answered your most frequently asked questions...

How often do I need my boiler serviced?

Your boiler should be serviced every twelve months. This allows us enough time to spot any problems before they have chance to escalate.

When should I get my boiler serviced?

The perfect time to service your boiler is at the end of the summer months (August/September), before the winter months roll around. Why? Servicing your boiler at the end of the summer period allows us to check for any problems that may have occurred whilst the boiler has been relatively inactive.

I’ve only had my boiler for a year, do I still need to get it serviced?

Yes! Your boiler should be serviced twelve months after it has been installed. While it may seem to be in good shape, there are some issues you will struggle to see for yourself so its always a good idea to get a gas engineer in for a check up your boiler.
Additionally, if you have an extended warranty/guarantee with your boiler, it's highly likely that you need to have your boiler serviced every year to continue to take advantage of free parts and labour in the event of a breakdown!

How long does a boiler service last?

This depends on the type of boiler you have and how many components there are to check. Usually, it’ll take between 30 minutes and a couple of hours. Our gas engineers offer flexible appointments to suit you and your schedule, so you don’t have to worry about not fitting us in.

What happens during a boiler service?

Our gas engineers will switch on your boiler and central heating in order to check all of the components thoroughly. During the service, we will look to identify any faults, weak spots or broken parts. We may be able to repair the fault on the day, if we have the spare part in the van, if not we will arrange a follow up appointment at a time that suits you.
Once we've determined that the boiler is in good working order, we will clean all components thoroughly by removing the outer casing; allowing us access to places you wouldn’t normally be able to clean off.
